About the Procedure
A face and neck lift address the lower two-thirds of the face and the neck (areas where aging often shows first). These procedures are typically performed together under general anesthesia. Unlike older facelift techniques that simply tighten skin, modern lifts focus on restoring deeper structural support — allowing for results that are subtle, elegant, and long-lasting. Techniques range from the full SMAS facelift to fat grafting to FaceTite®, depending on your needs.
Surgical Techniques
Each lift is personalized to your anatomy and goals. Common approaches include:
- SMAS Facelift: This technique lifts and repositions deeper tissue layers for a long-lasting and natural result. Incisions are typically placed discreetly around the ears and sometimes along the hairline, allowing access to the underlying tissues while keeping scars well hidden. This approach is especially effective for improving the cheeks, jawline, and lower face with elegant, enduring results.
- Neck Lift: This technique addresses sagging skin, vertical bands, and excess fat in the neck and under the chin. Incisions are typically placed behind the ears and sometimes beneath the chin, allowing me to tighten underlying muscles, remove excess fat, and redrape the skin for a smoother, more defined neck contour.
- Fat Grafting to the Face: Fat grafting can restore youthful fullness by transferring purified fat from another area of your body to key facial areas such as the cheeks, under-eye hollows, temples, jawline, or nasolabial folds. After the fat is harvested, it is processed and injected with great precision to create soft, natural volume that integrates into your own tissue for a more harmonious, rejuvenated look. Best of all, the transferred fat is long-lasting, and for many patients, permanent.
- FaceTite® (Minimally Invasive Skin Tightening): For patients who aren’t quite ready for a full surgical facelift — or who want additional refinement without added downtime — FaceTite® offers a minimally invasive option. Using radiofrequency energy delivered beneath the skin, FaceTite® gently melts fat and stimulates collagen production, tightening and contouring areas like the lower cheeks, jowls, jawline, and neck. It can be used to enhance facelift results or as a standalone option for early signs of facial aging.

Recovery and Healing
Recovery after a face and neck lift is a gradual but rewarding process. Most patients return home the same day, and I’ll provide personalized aftercare to ensure your healing goes smoothly.
Recovery details vary based on which surgical techniques were used. In general, patients can expect bruising, swelling, and a feeling of tightness lasting 1 to 2 weeks. Sutures are usually removed between 5 to 10 days after surgery. Most patients feel comfortable returning to work or social activities within 2 to 3 weeks. Light walking is encouraged early on, but more strenuous activity should be avoided for at least 4 to 6 weeks. The final results become more refined over the course of 2 to 3 months as swelling continues to resolve and the tissues settle naturally.
