Clitoral Hood Reduction
Every woman deserves to feel confident and comfortable in her body. For some, excess tissue around the clitoral hood may cause physical discomfort, interfere with sensation, or lead to feelings of self-consciousness about appearance. Clitoral hood reduction is a precise, highly personalized procedure designed to remove excess tissue and improve the balance and contour of the vulva.
I’m Dr. Leela, and as a surgeon, I believe in caring for the whole person — which includes helping women feel empowered in the most personal areas of their bodies. Whether you’re seeking relief from discomfort or hoping to feel more confident in your appearance, clitoral hood reduction is a subtle yet meaningful way to support that transformation. I approach this procedure with the utmost sensitivity, precision, and respect for your goals, and I will do everything possible to ensure that your experience feels not only safe, but affirming.

Who Is a Candidate for Clitoral Hood Reduction?
You may be a good candidate for this procedure if you:
- Have excess folds of skin over the clitoris that cause discomfort or irritation
- Have reduced clitoral sensitivity due to excess tissue
- Feel self-conscious about the appearance of the vulva
- Want to improve comfort during physical activity, intimacy, and/or while wearing tight clothing
- Are in good health and have realistic expectations
Clitoral hood reduction may be performed on its own or along with labiaplasty for more complete feminine rejuvenation. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your concerns, anatomy, and goals to determine the best path forward for you.
Benefits of Clitoral Hood Reduction
This gentle, effective procedure offers both functional and aesthetic benefits, including:
- Improving personal comfort during exercise, intimacy, or daily activities
- Enhancing the visual balance and contour of the vulva
- Boosting body confidence, particularly during intimacy
- Potentially improving clitoral sensitivity and pleasure
- Creating a more harmonious result (when combined with labiaplasty)
For many patients, even a subtle change in this area can lead to a deeper sense of ease, self-assurance, and comfort. We’ll discuss your goals together and determine the right approach to help you feel more comfortable and confident in your body.
About the Procedure
Clitoral hood reduction is a minor surgical procedure. Through carefully placed incisions, I remove a small amount of excess skin from the clitoral hood while preserving the underlying nerves and tissue. Precision is key; my goal is always to create a natural, refined appearance without overcorrection or loss of sensation.
This procedure is often combined with labiaplasty to further enhance the appearance, comfort, and sensitivity of the vulva. When performed together, I take care to ensure harmony across the entire vulvar area, tailoring every detail to your unique anatomy.
Recovery and Healing
Most patients return home immediately after the procedure and resume light daily activities within 1 to 2 days. Swelling and sensitivity are common for the first week and can be managed with cold compresses and prescribed medications. When performed on its own, most patients are ready to return to work within a few days. When combined with labiaplasty, patients may be ready to return to work after approximately one week. I recommend avoiding sexual activity, tampon use, and strenuous physical activity for 4 to 6 weeks.
Healing is typically smooth, and most patients feel fully recovered within 6 weeks. I’ll provide clear aftercare instructions and follow-up to support you throughout your recovery.
