Gynecomastia Surgery

Strong. Defined. Confident.

If excess chest tissue has left you feeling self-conscious about your appearance, you’re not alone — and you’re not without options. Gynecomastia surgery offers a solution to remove enlarged male breast tissue, restoring a flatter, firmer, and more masculine chest. Whether you’re looking to improve definition, feel more confident shirtless, or reclaim your body after weight or age-related changes, this procedure can help you feel stronger, leaner, and more confident in your body.

I’m Dr. Leela, and I believe every man deserves to feel confident in his own skin. Gynecomastia is more common than most people realize — and the good news is, it’s highly treatable. We’ll work together to design a surgical plan that aligns with your goals, enhances your natural physique, and delivers results that feel both powerful and personal.

Who Is a Candidate for Gynecomastia Surgery?

You may be a good candidate for male breast reduction surgery if you:

  • Have excess breast tissue or chest fat
  • Feel self-conscious or avoid certain clothing because of your chest shape
  • Have been unsuccessful at toning your chest through weight loss or working out
  • Are in good overall health and at a stable body weight
  • Have realistic expectations about what surgery can achieve

Gynecomastia surgery may be appropriate for men of any age, and it is especially effective in cases where lifestyle changes have not been able to improve chest appearance. During your consultation, I’ll evaluate your anatomy, review your goals, and determine whether surgical treatment is the best fit for you.

Benefits of Gynecomastia Surgery

Male breast reduction surgery offers a number of powerful benefits, including:

  • Removing excess breast tissue for a flatter, firmer chest
  • Improving and masculinizing chest shape, symmetry, and contour
  • Reducing puffiness or protrusion in the nipple area
  • Enhancing self-confidence and the desire to wear fitted shirts or go shirtless
  • Providing long-lasting results with minimal scarring

Whether your goal is a leaner upper body, a more masculine chest contour, or simply feeling more comfortable with your appearance, gynecomastia surgery can help you get there.

About the Procedure

Gynecomastia surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. The approach depends on the type and severity of tissue involved — whether excess fat, glandular tissue, or both. The surgery may involve liposuction for fat removal, excision for breast tissue, and skin tightening, or some combination of these. The goal is to restore a natural, masculine chest contour that looks proportional, smooth, and refined from all angles.

Surgical Techniques

Each gynecomastia surgery is tailored to your unique chest anatomy and goals. Most procedures involve one or both of the following techniques:

  • Glandular Tissue Excision: A small incision is typically made around the lower edge of the areola to access and remove excess breast glandular tissue. This technique creates a flatter chest with improved nipple projection and contour.
  • Liposuction: A small cannula is inserted through discreet incisions (usually along the chest or underarm) to suction excess fat and sculpt the chest wall. This technique is often combined with tissue excision for optimal results.

In more advanced cases, skin tightening or removal may be incorporated as well.

Every surgical plan is personalized based on your anatomy and goals. I’ll help you choose the right approach to ensure natural-looking, long-lasting results that align with your lifestyle and preferences.

Recovery and Healing

Recovery after gynecomastia surgery is generally smooth. Most patients go home the same day with a compression garment to reduce swelling and support healing. Mild soreness, swelling, and tightness are normal in the beginning; pain medications will be prescribed to help manage any discomfort.

You’ll be encouraged to move around lightly beginning the next day. Most men feel ready to return to a desk job or non-strenuous work within 5 to 7 days. Light exercise can usually resume after 2 weeks, but more strenuous workouts and chest-focused activity should be postponed until after 4 to 6 weeks. Compression garments are typically worn for 3 to 4 weeks to support the final results. The bulk of swelling should subside within 6 weeks, and your chest contour and definition will continue to improve as swelling resolves.

I’ll follow up with you closely throughout your recovery to ensure your chest is healing properly and your results are settling into place.
