About the Procedure
Every detail of breast augmentation from implant selection to placement is determined with your unique anatomy in mind. This highly personalized procedure is performed under general anesthesia and typically takes 1 to 2 hours. During your surgery, I’ll use small, strategically placed incisions to carefully insert the breast implants and position them for a soft, natural contour. The procedure is done as an outpatient surgery, so you will be able to return home shortly afterward.
Implant Types
I offer the following types of breast implants, each with unique benefits:
- Saline Implants: Filled with sterile saltwater, saline implants provide a uniform shape and are FDA-approved for patients 18 and older.
- Silicone Implants: Known for their soft, natural feel, silicone implants are a popular option. I use the latest generation silicone implants, which are highly cohesive and FDA-approved for patients 22 and older.
- Motiva Implants: The latest development in breast implant technology, Motiva is an advanced, next-generation silicone implant with a smooth, flexible surface and exceptional safety profile. Patients love the natural movement and feel these implants provide. They also feature innovative technology like RFID tracking for added peace of mind. Motiva implants are FDA-approved for patients 22 and older.

Surgical Techniques
Here are the most common surgical techniques that may be used to perform breast augmentation:
- Incision Type: The two most commonly used incision types are the inframammary incision and the periareolar incision. An inframammary incision is placed under the breast fold, offering excellent surgical control and discreet scarring. A periareolar incision is placed around the edge of the areola (the darker skin surrounding the nipple), allowing it to blend well with your natural pigmentation.
- Implant Placement: Your breast implants may be placed either under the pectoral muscle (submuscular) or above it (subglandular). The choice of placement will be based on your anatomy, lifestyle, and desired outcome.

Recovery and Healing
Recovery after breast augmentation is generally smooth, with most patients returning to light activities within a few days. You can expect some soreness, swelling, and a feeling of chest tightness to appear during the first few days. Medications will be prescribed to help you manage this. A support bra (compression bra) is worn to support healing and reduce swelling.
Most patients feel ready to return to desk work within about one week. Swelling, minor bruising, and temporary changes in sensation may continue for a few weeks as your body heals and the implants begin to settle into place. I recommend avoiding strenuous activity and upper body exercise for at least 4 to 6 weeks. Throughout your recovery, I’ll be checking in with you regularly to ensure everything is healing beautifully. I’ll provide detailed instructions and be available to answer any questions along the way.
