Breast Reduction
Large, heavy breasts can impact far more than your silhouette — they can affect your posture, your physical comfort, and even your sense of self-confidence. If you’re experiencing back or shoulder pain, skin irritation, or discomfort due to having overly large breasts, breast reduction surgery may offer the relief and balance you’ve been looking for.
I’m Dr. Leela, and I perform breast reduction surgery to help women feel more comfortable, confident, and at ease in their bodies. This procedure is not just about reducing breast size — it’s about restoring proportions, lifting the breasts, and creating a result that feels natural to your frame and lifestyle.

Who Is a Candidate for Breast Reduction?
You may be a good candidate for breast reduction if you:
- Experience back, neck, or shoulder pain due to heavy breasts
- Have grooves in your shoulders from bra straps
- Deal with rashes or skin irritation beneath the breast fold
- Feel self-conscious or physically limited by your breast size
- Have difficulty finding clothing that fits comfortably
- Have asymmetry between the breasts
- Are in good health and have realistic expectations
Breast reduction can be transformative, both physically and emotionally. During your consultation, we’ll take the time to discuss your goals, learn about your lifestyle, evaluate your anatomy, and determine whether this procedure is the right fit for you.
Benefits of Breast Reduction
Breast reduction surgery can relieve physical discomfort while also creating a more balanced, proportionate silhouette. Benefits include:
- Enhancing breast shape, symmetry, and proportion
- Alleviating chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain
- Reducing skin irritation and bra strap grooving
- Improving posture and ease of movement
- Making clothing fit more comfortably and confidently
This procedure does much more than reduce breast size — it restores comfort, boosts confidence, and helps you reclaim a sense of ease in your body. Your personalized surgical plan will help you feel lighter, more balanced, and much more supported in your everyday life.
About the Procedure
Breast reduction surgery removes excess breast tissue, fat, and skin to achieve a breast size that’s more proportionate to your body. I also reshape and lift the breasts to a more youthful position, and if desired, reduce the size of the areolas.
This procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes about 2 to 4 hours, depending on the individual and the techniques used. I use carefully placed incisions — often around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease — to allow for optimal reshaping and repositioning of the breast tissue while minimizing visible scarring over time.
My goal is always to maintain a natural breast shape, reduce weight and volume, and leave you with results that feel balanced and beautiful.

Surgical Techniques
There are several techniques that can be used in breast reduction surgery. I’ll tailor the approach to your body and goals:
- Vertical (Lollipop) Incision: The most often used technique, this approach involves an incision around the areola and vertically down to the breast fold. It’s ideal for moderate reductions and results in limited scarring.
- Anchor Incision: For larger reductions or more significant sagging, the vertical incision technique may require an additional horizontal incision in the breast fold. This allows for more control over shape and tissue removal.
- Liposuction-Only Reduction: For certain patients with good skin tone and minimal breast sagging, a scar-minimizing approach using liposuction alone may be appropriate. This option is reserved for those who desire only a minor reduction in breast size.
During our consultation, we’ll discuss which approach will provide the safest and most aesthetically pleasing outcome for your unique anatomy.
Recovery and Healing
Recovery after breast reduction is typically smooth and well-tolerated. Most patients return home the same day and are up and walking around at home. You can expect swelling, soreness, and mild bruising in the first 1 to 2 weeks. Most patients return to non-strenuous activities or desk work within 5 to 7 days. All patients are advised to avoid heavy lifting or upper body exercises for 4 to 6 weeks. The final results — including breast shape, position, and scar fading — will continue to refine over several months.
I’ll monitor you closely throughout your recovery and provide guidance to support healing, minimize scarring, and help you feel comfortable every step of the way.
