About the Procedure
Double chin liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure performed under local anesthesia with sedation. It typically takes less than an hour. Through a tiny, discreet incision hidden beneath the chin, a fine cannula is used to gently remove fat and contour the area.
For patients with mild to moderate skin laxity, FaceTite® can be combined with liposuction to melt fat, stimulate collagen, and tighten the skin of the lower face and neck. This approach enhances the jawline and neckline, creating a firmer, more youthful definition.
Surgical Techniques
Double chin liposuction can be performed using one of two approaches:
- Liposuction (alone): Excess fat is removed with a fine cannula through a small incision beneath the chin. This approach is best suited for patients with good skin elasticity and no significant sagging who simply want a slimmer neck contour.
- FaceTite®-Assisted Liposuction: Combines fat removal with radiofrequency-assisted skin tightening for patients with mild to moderate skin laxity. This dual approach enhances both contour and skin firmness, producing a smoother, more refined neckline.

Recovery and Healing
Recovery after double chin liposuction is typically smooth. Most patients return home the same day and resume light activity within a few days. Swelling, tightness, and mild bruising under the chin are common during the first week. A supportive chin strap is usually worn for 1 to 2 weeks to minimize swelling and help the skin conform to the new contour.
Most patients feel ready to return to desk work within 3 to 5 days. Light exercise can usually resume after 2 weeks and strenuous activity after 4 to 6 weeks. Results begin to appear as swelling subsides, with final refinement appearing within 6 to 8 weeks. If FaceTite® is added, skin tightening continues to improve for several months after treatment.
